Three things to settle first.
Measure thresholds, note loose cables and list rugs that must stay dry. Obstacle sensing does not remove the need to prepare a room.
Check the robot and dock together: tank access, placement, consumables and the work still needed to keep the system clean.
Both examples list camera-based sensing. Read the regional app and privacy documentation before deciding which features to enable.
Two models. Different considerations.
Compare carpet handling and dock upkeep before treating suction pressure as a buying verdict.

Consider this configuration if a vibrating mop and its published lift clearance fit your floors. Confirm the separate refill-and-drainage option rather than assuming it is included.

These facts are drawn from the manufacturer sources below. They are examples to help you ask better questions, not a complete market ranking.

Pa figures are manufacturer maximum suction claims, not directly comparable cleaning scores. Neither model has been tested by this site.
What the numbers leave out.
The 10,000 Pa and 12,000 Pa numbers come from different manufacturers. They do not measure debris pickup on your floor under a shared protocol. The useful distinction is the cleaning mechanism, carpet approach and ongoing dock care.
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra: still to verify
- Comparable debris-pickup performance
- Long-term reliability
- Local stock, warranty and replacement-part costs
Dreame X40 Ultra: still to verify

Budget for ownership, not just purchase.
Ask for the annual cost of bags, filters, brushes and mop pads. Include detergent if required, electricity, replacement batteries and service availability. A lower checkout price can leave a more expensive maintenance routine.

Before you choose
- Will the dock fit with room to remove and refill tanks?
- Which rugs need mop removal rather than lifting?
- What camera, cloud and app settings will you accept?
- What do bags, filters, brushes and mops cost locally?
